FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Everything families usually ask before their first visit.
Where is KidsDocTelehealth available?
Visits are currently available to patients physically located in Maryland or Washington, D.C. Dr. Hussain holds multistate licensure and is working toward expanding into additional states.
Do you take insurance?
No — KidsDocTelehealth is direct-pay only and doesn't bill insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, or CHIP. HSA and FSA cards are accepted, and an itemized superbill is available on request if you'd like to seek reimbursement from your insurer yourself.
What ages do you see?
KidsDocTelehealth sees patients from infancy through age 21. A parent or guardian needs to be present on camera for the full visit.
What can a visit actually help with?
Acute visits cover everyday illnesses — colds, fever, rashes, pinkeye, stomach bugs, minor injuries and similar concerns. Guidance visits are scheduled time for non-urgent questions like sleep, feeding, toilet training, behavior, or school and bullying concerns. See the Services page for the full breakdown.
What won't you treat?
KidsDocTelehealth doesn't do well-child checkups, vaccines, chronic disease management, controlled-substance prescriptions (including ADHD medication), or in-person/home visits. It's also not for emergencies — for anything life-threatening, call 911 or go to the nearest ER.
How do I book a visit? Is it available 24/7?
Check the open appointment slots. If a time is open, it's yours. Just pick it and book. New slots are added regularly, so if nothing works for you right now, check back soon or contact us. KidsDocTelehealth is opening soon and isn't seeing patients yet. You can book online any time of day, but visits happen only at the scheduled times.
Where do I find my visit summary and records?
In the healow patient portal (from eClinicalWorks). Your visit summaries and records are kept there, and you can log in from your phone or computer. The portal link is coming soon.
Can you write a prescription?
Yes, when it's appropriate for the visit — with the exception of controlled substances, which KidsDocTelehealth does not prescribe.
What if I need a follow-up?
Follow-ups on the same concern within 7 days of a visit are free.
What do I need for the video visit?
A smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and a reasonably steady internet connection. A parent or guardian should be present with the child for the entire visit.
Is lab testing included?
If a lab test is ordered, it's billed directly to you by the lab — it isn't included in the visit price.
